Almost 4,000 bone marrow or stem cell transplants are performed in the UK every year, with just over 32,000 transplants across Europe as a whole (UHS, NHS). In 2023, Biovault worked alongside 6 NHS trusts to process 1,552 cellular therapy products and to release 753, making us a leading provider of PBSC services.
These figures include 41 donations provided by Anthony Nolan from their international network of registries. Over 2,000 people in the UK are in need of a bone marrow or stem cell transplant every year, and we feel incredibly proud to be able to help Anthony Nolan match remarkable stem cell donors to people in need of lifesaving transplants.

Biovault Technical offers processing of all human tissue and cells subject to required regulatory approval from the HTA. Biovault is accredited by JACIE as the processing and storage facility for the NHS SW Peninsula Transplant Service for peripheral blood and bone marrow stem cells. The Joint Accreditation Committee for the two leading scientific organisations involved with blood and bone marrow-derived stem cell transplantation in Europe, JACIE, is Europe’s only official accreditation body in the field of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and cellular therapy.
